I Want You to Say It

Don’t hand me another silence
wrapped in good intentions.

Don’t tell me
“I thought you already knew.”

I have survived too many loves
that expected me
to translate what was never spoken.

So if you miss me,

say it.

If you’re angry,

say it.

If you’re proud of me,

say it.

If you’re afraid,

say it.

If you love me,

don’t hide it behind almosts,
mixed signals,
or words that arrive
years too late.

Life has buried too many conversations
beneath gravestones
and unanswered phones.

I don’t want to spend another lifetime
wondering what someone meant.

I want the truth,
even if it trembles.

I want honesty,
even if it hurts.

Because hearts don’t break
from hearing the words.

They break
from waiting
for them.
