A memory popped up
on your screen.
Not ours.
Yours.
One year ago today,
you recorded yourself
and thought,
Someone should see this.
I wonder
if my name
was ever attached to it,
or if it simply traveled
from chat to chat,
collecting reactions
like souvenirs.
Maybe I wasn’t
the only notification.
Maybe there were others
opening the same video,
the same angle,
the same performance,
the same expectation
that we’d somehow
feel chosen.
Funny.
A memory
is supposed to remind us
of something special.
Instead,
this one
made me wonder
how many women
shared the exact same surprise.
How many phones
lit up.
How many eyes
rolled.
How many fingers
pressed delete.
You probably forgot
who you sent it to.
Snapchat remembered.
And somehow,
that’s the most embarrassing
part of all.
