We spent
a decade
building a life.
It is strange
how quickly
people assume
ten years
can be summarized
by a courtroom,
a separation,
or screenshots.
They never ask
about the ordinary things.
The grocery lists.
The inside jokes.
The dreams.
The plans
that quietly
expired.
Or the little girl
who taught us
that love
could survive
only three and a half hours
and still last
forever.
People think
the end
is one moment.
It isn’t.
It’s thousands.
Until one day
you wake up
and realize
you’re carrying
the memories,
but no longer
the marriage.
