Lucifer whispers,
“I’ll watch from cover.”
Two moonlit eyes
beneath the couch,
a quiet shadow learning
that home can be trusted.
HoneySpark shouts,
“SPEED!”
One heartbeat still,
the next a streak of fur,
chasing ghosts only kittens can see.
Myst pauses in the window.
“What’s that outside?”
Every leaf is a mystery,
every breeze deserves watching,
the world beyond the glass calling her name.
Zelda blinks from her throne.
“Human… why are you taking pictures at this hour?”
She’s seen enough dawns
to know the madness passes,
and the youngsters will tire eventually.
Cerri sighs from her kennel.
“Can someone please turn the cats off?”
She doesn’t understand why the tiny creatures are allowed to break every rule while she waits so patiently.
And somehow, while the babies keep dreaming, my house hums with its own strange symphony—
one timid shadow, one tiny tornado, one vigilant watcher, one wise old queen, and one very confused dog.
Four in the morning has never been quiet.
It’s just another chapter in this wonderfully ridiculous home. 🖤🐾
