The Sisters Between Screens

Beaner laughs with the kind of smile that reaches places words sometimes cannot.

On the other side, Gabby grins back, small hands pressing toward a screen that doesn’t understand it is standing between sisters.

One is five, learning the world in her own beautiful language, where love is measured in familiar voices, patient moments, and faces she knows by heart.

One is still so little, discovering that happiness can arrive through a glowing rectangle when the voice calling your name belongs to family.

Same father. Different homes. The same thread running quietly through them both.

There is something sacred about children who don’t ask complicated questions.

They don’t count miles. They don’t measure custody, distance, or the reasons adults build impossible maps.

They simply wave.

They giggle.

They hold the phone a little too close.

They smile as though love has always known how to travel through glass and pixels.

And maybe it has.

Because this afternoon, for a few bright minutes, there wasn’t a screen.

There were only two sisters—

Beaner and Gabby—

finding each other exactly where love has always been waiting.
